walking through the sky, five years ago christian naujoks, peter m. kersten and richard von der schulenburg started a series of spontaneous recording sessions without any intention or idea. the only thing what held the group together were the immediate results hitting the three musicians straight inside their hearts. jazz as a metaphor of instrumental conversation, improvisation in the most dillettant way, science as a matter of exploring the opposite sound of what instruments were built to, these might be parts of a concept where there was none.

the man behind the end of level boss label, cyclonix, delivers 2 club tracks just the way we like them. already tried and tested in the clubs by our man cottam, who fell in love with the tracks on first listen. they demand to be played in the early hours of the morning in dark basements from nottingham to leyland and beyond. label boss cottam takes over the b side with a leisurely walk back from the supermarket taking the scenic route for no apparent reason.

verona based producer and dj luca ballerini is our latest discovery and a perfect proof that cocoon recordings is still looking for new kids on the block and gives them the chance to step into the arena. although we have to admit that luca ballerini is not a complete rookie anymore. after his debut on siena recordings in 2010, ballerini founded his own plattforms and released several productions on musical metaphor and wax jam.

damian lazarus and the ancient moons entered our orbit earlier in the summer with the stomping and mystically brilliant *lovers eyes (mohe pi ki najariya)*. now the highly anticipated remix package is upon us - featuring a souped up re-edit from man of the year dixon that and a driving remix from swiss/spanish underground star mendo.

skylax welcomes f.t.g., known to house music scholars as freddy the groove, and his many friends for our next release in 2014. last year, f.t.g. and his italian partner in crime, marco riff (who also appears on this very record), pressed a very limited run of a single-sided, special throwback tribute to late 80s chicago house music. the track was aptly named ‘tribute ’89’, and it put a more dancefloor oriented twist on a track by a certain originator with the initials r.h. needless to say, it became highly sought-after incredibly quickly and fuel was further added to the fire by the repeated club play by none other than the dj idol ricardo villalobos. luckily for our followers, that original mix appears on this ep with another unreleased mix of the track and 2 originals featuring belfie and alex tea alongside f.t.g.with enough said about ‘tribute ‘89’ itself, the unreleased mix maintains the warehouse vibe with a heavy kick and bouncing bass pattern but takes it to another level with the introduction of rolling vocal cuts and a rather ravey synth line. flipping over the to b-side, we are treated with two tracks by f.t.g. and alex tea, named ‘public enemy’ and ‘bango’, with the former also seeing belfie lend a helping hand in the production. both of these originals round out the record nicely and cement it as another skylax release that is definitely not to be missed

javier & luis garayalde aka kyodai are back on local talk with their third release since the debut *breaking* back in 2012. as always we are thrilled to present new tracks from the duo whose been integral in establishing local talk. the pace is set with the first track *konbanwa*, showcasing the duos phenomenal skills in creating something both classic and modern by fusing a tight and driving groove, tension building chords and a bumpy bass hook to great effect. believe us when we say it has been an absolute highlight in our dj-sets thru out the summer. on *so special* the brothers go back to their roots and create a track that has got both the sound and feel of their previous tracks *breaking* and *the scene* - in other words, another big track from kyodai!

after few nolder, italian fellow lehar aka lorenzo esposito is the second new signing for connaisseur this year. apart from his residency at the cirq club in venice and regular bookings at some of the best clubs and parties in italy and malta, lehar truly is a very talented producer as well. some of you might have heard the free download for lehars remix of kollektiv turmstrasses classic *tristesse* which has caused some attention on him the past weeks and was therefore the perfect precursor for this release. his demo impressed us very much and both titles really hit our taste. and as though this wasn t enough, together with his demo he delivered a remix by his friend and probably hottest producer of the moment: mario basanov, head of the label boso and mostly know under his moniker ten walls.

amsterdam based house head nachtbraker made his first appearance on dam swindles infamous heist recordings earlier this year with his fantastic debut ep. we are very pleased to welcome him to our dirt crew family and to release his second record. being best known for his smooth and deep production with jazzy and soulful elements he also added these ingredients carefully in these 4 new tracks

step into the rabbit hole and we ll take you on a journey from romania to japan, featuring some of the finest producers from both worlds. first track is from the well known duo livio & roby, who also deliverd a stunning remix on our second release. they share the romanian side with cally, who needs little introduction because of his beatiful releases on fear of flying, neostrictly or broquade. on the flip side we have yudai tamura, a very talented japanese newcomer and yoshitaca, already a veteran dj and producer in his home country.

rothmans is back with there 7th release and this time they pay homage to german playmaker paul breitner . the ep comes in the form of rising manchester producer ste spandex , fresh off the back of his remix of coyote our on rothmans 6 , and has been recorded 100% live on analogue eqiupment , not a computer in sight !!!! . the ep finds rothmans taking a slightly different and more up tempo vibe to it but still retains the psychadelic nu disco feel of many of there earlier releases. spandex has had a little help from his friends in the form of kickin pigeon and metrodome , both fresh out of the manchester underground. this is rothmans first all manchester release and sees them really cemeting the label in there surroundings.

following a double headed debut on our recent nasty rips comp. – a crisp remix of hackmans ‘ always’ and a fizzing solo outing -‘not afraid’, montreal producer reagan grey makes her full shifting peaks debut with a high grade 3 track ep, alongside 3 useful remixes. opener ‘owl’ featuring sandy duperval on vocals, takes a neat song of love and life and rolls it over a punchy ukg/house groove, adding classic sounding organ stabs and swingy rhythms, with a tight arrangement keeping things moving along. ‘feel the pressure’ features christie nelson on vocals, with an equally strong , r n’ b inflected song woven in and out of a looser, spacier arrangement, rgs snappy drums again underpin proceedings. not afraid reappears, having made friends along the way via it s nasty rips inclusion thanks to driving detroit-influenced synths, a pulsing bassline and sweet builds and drops. on the remix front, lukas ( future boogie ) keeps things simple on owl, with a fat, kick-lead groove and sparing use of the vox before drifting into a crowd-pleasing breakdown halfway through. benway (aka fast rising muscovite nphonix) takes swathes of the feel the pressure vocal for a ride over broken beats and a bass heavy backing, with hints of techno torque setting his pressurize mix apart from the similar de pressurize version.

david k is the parisian-turned-berliner producer who has been a prominent artist within the underground house scene since the late 90s, having first joined forces with dan ghenacia of apollonia when releasing his bestseller * boul de nerf* on freak n chic. a fruitful career in production led to music on labels like cocoon, visionquest, supplement facts and bpitch control, while his new album * out of range * is just about to drop. ten years in the making and signed to tiefschwarzs souvenir, david proves his music is still as relevant today as ever. as one of the main artists on freak n chic, david k seemed a natural fit for apollonia to approach...* david is an old friend and talented produced who we have known from the beginning back in paris. of course we wanted to see what he could do for the new label, as you know by now we apollonia are always referring back to our roots. a 2-track package, * middle-aged romance* is characterised by its bell melody and hard-hitting bassline, an electric story moving between ethereal wonder and an intense workout. * drop the beat* perfectly demonstrates the classic chicago house style david k and apollonia first enjoyed together all those years ago, but adding a very modern, textured touch. coming 2014, apollonia invite premiesku to the label – the combination of livio & roby and their pal george g – and also the newest addition to the lola ed roster.
